Prof. Sandy Gougis, J.D.
About Sandy
When I started law school, like many of my peers, I wanted to change the world. I wanted to reform the legal system, or at the very least, bring justice to society one client at a time. My original plan was to become a deputy district attorney. After clerking in the public defender’s office, I realized that I could effectuate meaningful social change from either side of the aisle.

Then somewhere along the way, one of my professors recruited me to be a tutor for a small group of law students and later to be his teaching assistant. I still recall the first time I saw a roomful of students’ faces light up as they grasped a difficult point I had explained. "Now I get it," I told my professor after class. "I understand why you teach."

My goal of changing the world remains the same. I am simply accomplishing it one student at a time.

I share my life with my husband Michael, our two dogs, cat, and rabbit. Besides law and teaching, my interests include running, Zen, and supporting the Arts.
